COSTA MESA, Calif., (June 15, 1998) - It's a new division, but it has a 60-year photography heritage. That's why Canon Software Publishing (CSP), a new division of the legendary camera manufacturer Canon, is introducing Photo Org photo management software — which offers users a quick and easy way to organize, customize, print, e-mail and share photos.

"For decades we have helped our customers take quality photographs. Canon is now offering them a user-friendly software package to help enjoy, share and preserve their pictures," said Gary Bushey, senior manager of product acquisition and development at CSP. "And Photo Org does more than organize family photos, businesses and schools will find it a valuable tool as well."

Photo Org removes the complexity and hassle of digital photography with direct scanner and digital camera support and photo management features. With Photo Org, everyone from the very young to the very old can quickly and easily load photos into their computer and then improve, customize, organize, print, Email and share photos via the Web with friends and family around the world. Business users, can also just as easily catalog and Email product photos to colleagues and customers. Schools can record projects or events.

Capture
Always wish you could get rid of that stack of photos that you say you are going to catalog and file!!! Well Photo Org users load their shots from a digital camera or scanner, the Internet, or photo CD, into their PC in familiar "rolls of film" and then the real fun begins. (Photo Org supports all the popular photo file formats, such as TIFF, JPEG, BMP, CAM, FlashPix™, and PhotoCD™.)

Organize
Whatever the occasion or topic — birthday, vacation, homes for sale, or a science project — Photo Org lets users categorize their digital "rolls of film" by event, and visually arrange the photos in multiple image thumbnail views. When it comes time to retrieve the photos, Photo Org's search engine has powerful search capabilities that lets users visually search photos by color, shape and texture.

Customize
After a user captures and sorts their photos, the fun and creative process begins:

  • Build your photo album - use interesting formats and fun frames, such as hearts, squares or circles for framing your photos.
  • Enhance your photos - use the simple editing features to make that red-eye go away or to crop out that ugly street sign.
  • Switch among the multiple album views - to see the whole album and how it's shaping up.
  • Add in text - put in those funny captions or event descriptions using the text editing feature
  • Make a greeting card - Make that card for the family or friends
  • Create a full-screen slide show - for a fun family event or to create dynamic Internet postcards

To help make this customization process easy and enjoyable, Photo Org is designed with some of the most powerful features in its category and packed with the many extras that users want in a complete package. For instance, users get the opportunity to play photo editor using the software's simple and effective editing toolbox to touch up photos, eliminate red-eye or add special effects and captions.

    Share
One of Photo Org's most rewarding and unique features is that it allows users to share their creations — both via the Internet and in print — with friends, family, colleagues and customers. They can produce color prints, photo sheets and index sheets, including sheets of wallet-size photos, for that special someone; print greetings cards for special occasions; send their electronic postcards, slide shows, and photo albums via e-mail; and post their creations on the Web by displaying their personal photo album free for 30 days on the Photo Org Web site.
