Canon Photo is #1!

Canon Photo is best selling photo editing software in its class

COSTA MESA, Calif., (February 24, 2000) -- Canon Photo ranks number one in PC Dataâs ãPersonal Productivity: Photo Editingä category for January 2000. The photo editing software title from Canon Software Publishing (CSP), a division of Canon Computer Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc., offers fast and powerful photo retouching and editing to new and enthusiastic users of digital cameras, scanners and digital photographs.

According to PC Data, a leading source of data on retail software sales, Canon Photo secured a 17 percent market share for consumer photo editing products and outsold photo titles from Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT), Adobe Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: ADBE) and MGI Software (TSE: MGI). Two additional photo software titles from Canon Software Publishing appeared in PC Dataâs January 2000 top 20 listing for ãPersonal Productivity: Photo Editingä -- Canon Photo Gold and Photo Org Photo Albums.

ãThe Canon Photo line of software is a natural extension of Canonâs long history in photography products,ä said Dave Derse, director of sales at Canon Software Publishing. ãCustomers obviously recognize and trust the Canon brand name when it comes to purchasing photo software.ä

Launched in August 1999, the Canon Photo family of products gives users the power to digitally enhance and retouch photographs, share them with friends and family, explore special effects and create printable photo projects ö all with speed and quality. Canon Photo executes common tasks significantly faster than similar photo editors available today and performs these tasks in fewer steps to make digital photography faster and more enjoyable. The software provides a simple interface for users to work on their digital photographs, helping novice users get started quickly.

Canon Software Publishing recently announced the availability of Macintosh versions of Canon Photo and Canon Photo Gold. ãOnly a handful of companies offer photo-editing programs for Macintosh users, and we look forward to filling this void with quality Canon software as well,ä said Derse.

Canon Photo Gold and Canon Photo have estimated prices of $54.95* and $34.95* respectively and are available via a nationwide network of leading software retailers, including office and electronic superstores and computer superstores, and through electronic software delivery (ESD) at www.software.canon.com and other selected e-retailers.
