Product Has Personal, Business, SOHO And Educational Applications - with High Quality Web Page Printing
COSTA MESA, Calif., (June 15, 1998) - Canon Software Publishing (CSP), a division of Canon, the world's leader in imaging technology, has entered the personal productivity software market in a big way with the introduction of WebRecord 2.0, an Internet printing software package. WebRecord lets users track Web pages and sites, and then edit, format and print out stunningly-presented and easily readable documents that come complete with a table of contents and a URL index.
"WebRecord is the ultimate way to record and print your Web travels," says Gary Bushey, senior manager of product acquisition and development at CSP. "Because of our heritage and expertise in printing and imaging, we have been able to develop a solution - WebRecord - for printing Web pages that are better formatted and more readable than anything you can print from your browser."
Retrieve
Active Internet users who need to collect and print information from the Web for business, school or personal use, will want to take advantage of WebRecord's unique capabilities.
Imagine being able to do research, develop a competitive analysis, and download your favorite Web-based magazine all while surfing the net. Then when you have time -- offline -- you can browse the information or print it out to read at your leisure.
And if time is in really short supply, WebRecord users don't have to visit sites in order to view and print its contents: the software's "fetch" feature lets users retrieve Web pages - or complete sites - with just a click of your mouse.
All this as well as WebRecord's unique tracking feature that keeps a complete record of all the sites you visit, downloading data automatically, and indexing and saving URLs to the WebRecord print list.
Enhance To enhance the readability, background color and graphics of printed Web pages, WebRecord lets users view, organize, format and consolidate the multiple Web pages they have captured.
With the formatting option, users can arrange Web pages into columns (up to four) and change background colors, font sizes and page orientation. Users also have the option to select specific pages to be printed and to arrange them in any order.
"WebRecord's preview feature gives everyone the ability to create attractive and intelligently formatted useful documents from Web pages rather than browser printed pages that are frequently poorly formatted, waste paper and don't provide any of the links available on the Web page," said Bushey.
Print
Before printing, WebRecord customizes every print job by adding a table of contents at the top of the first page and indexing all internal and external links (with URLs) at the end of the document. WebRecord automatically footnotes every indexed link and, if included in the printout, it indicates on which page the link is located. The final printed pages provide a complete record - crisp, clear and in full-color - of entire Web pages or sites. "With WebRecord, even when you're not online you can still surf the web - on paper. And with multiple web pages on each printed page, you save both time and money." noted Bushey.
Print List
Users will enjoy the software's ability to maintain customized print lists for each project. As an added benefit, users can type a URL directly into their "favorites" list and share it via e-mail with colleagues, friends and family.
