Q. What is the difference between Photo Org 2.0 and Photo Org?
A. Photo Org 2.0 is an up-graded version of Photo Org 1.0. It provides the same basic functions of Photo Org 1.0, plus we have added the following new features:
1) Capable of creating Calendars as well as Albums and Greeting Cards.
2) Capable of importing clipart (.WMF files).
3) Supports 256 color mode.
4) Unlimited Undo. (Actually only limited by the amount of free memory your system has.)
5) Capable of overlaying frames on top of pictures.
6) Capable of creating a Screen Saver from a picture.
Q. Can I use Photo Org 1.0 files in Photo Org Photo Albums 2.0?
A. Yes you can. Here is how:
1) Start Photo Org Photo Albums 2.0.
2) From the "Quick Start" window, select "Open Document" and then select "Open a file from File Explorer". Or select "Explorer" from the "Quick Access" Toolbar in the bottom left corner of the screen.
3) Locate the Photo Org 1.0 folder.
4) Double click on the desired file to open it. Once opened, save the file by using the "File", "Save As" command. Photo Org 2.0 will save the Photo Org file in a Photo Org 2.0 format.
Q. I received an "Out of Memory" error during installation. What do I do now?
A. Your system is running out of "space". Do the following:
1) Halt the installation process.
2) Restart Windows.
3) Close all applications that you currently have running. If you are not sure which programs are running, check the status bar. To close an application, place the pointer on the status bar and right click on the mouse. Select "Close" from the pop-up menu.
4) Once all other applications have been closed, try reinstalling Photo Org 2.0. If the problem persists, you may need to increase the memory on your PC.
Q. I have installed Photo Org 2.0, but it won't start. What do I do now?
A. Reinstall Photo Org 2.0. However, before installing, verify that your PC meets the minimum system requirements recommended to install and run Photo Org 2.0. After reinstalling, make sure you have closed all other applications before launching Photo Org 2.0.
Q. How do I get images from my digital camera?
A. If you are importing photos using a TWAIN-compliant digital camera, you must first connect the device to your computer. Refer to your camera's user guide for details.
Under "Tools", "Options", "Sources", go to the "Camera Source" and select your digital camera. If your camera is not listed, reinstall the software that shipped with your camera. Next, select the "Get Photos from Camera" button on the toolbar. Photo Org 2.0 begins to import the photo. The camera's TWAIN driver now controls the process - follow the instructions provided by the camera's TWAIN interface.
Q. I placed an image in my Album, but it is too big. How do I edit it?
A. To edit a photo, you must first select the photo you wish to edit. Select the "Photo Toolbar" on the bottom of the window and then select the "Edit Image" button. Double clicking on the photo will also activate the "Image Editor".
The photo now appears in the Image Editor window. Use the tools on the tool bar to edit, erase, magnify, draw, change colors, save and exit. Selecting "F1" activates help and displays an explanation of all the tool functions.
If the image is too large to view within the "Album"/"Greeting Card"/"Calendar" window, you can resize it. Follow these steps: Select the photo. Then, select one of the black "handles" and drag the photo horizontally, vertically, or diagonally until it is the size you want. Photo Org 2.0 maintains the aspect ratio of a photo when you resize it using this method.
You also can resize a photo by specifying a specific size. Right click on the photo to select it and choose "Resize Image" from the menu. In the Resize Image dialog, enter the specific settings you desire.
Q. I changed my photo, but I don't like it. Can I change it back to the way it was?
A. If you have edited a photo but do not want to keep the changes, click on the "Undo" button. Your last action will be reversed.
You also can delete the image from the Album and reinsert it from the "Film Roll Explorer". Select the source "Film Roll Explorer" from the upper right corner and drag the photo from the Film View Area to the Album View Area. The "Film Roll Explorer" contains the original, unedited image.
Q. Why do I get an error message when I try to scan my images?
A. Verify that you have properly set preferences before scanning. Select "Tools" from the menu, then "Options". Click the "Source" tab, locate the Scanner Source, and from the "Current Scanner" drop-down list, select the driver for your scanner.
If you want to fetch more than one file at a time, select the "Acquire Multiple Photos from Scanner" checkbox. Remember, if you select this option, you must manually exit the TWAIN software after you retrieve all photos. (Selecting this option requires more system memory to allow the acquisition of a large volume of photos)
Q. What e-mail applications can I use with Photo Org 2.0?
A. Photo Org 2.0 supports the following e-mail packages: MS Exchange
Eudora
Netscape v3.x - v4.x
Outlook Express (simple MAPI mode)
Q. How do I send an Album to my friend who doesn't have Photo Org 2.0?
A. You can save the Album and send the file as an attachment with e-mail. Select the Album you want to send. Select "Email Document" button from the "Standard Toolbar". In the Email Photo Album window, select "Email the current Photo Album" and check "Send as slide show", then click "Send". In the File name field, verify the file extension is ".exe" and then choose "Save". In the "Create Web Pages" window, decide on the layout of your web pages using the "Web Page Style" and "Other Options" fields, and then click on "Next". Enter a title and any other information desired, and then click "Finish". Go to your e-mail application and attach the file to your e-mail message.
Q. I'm trying to send an e-mail, but Photo Org 2.0 is asking me to identify my default Email "package". What does this mean?
A. You have not yet identified the e-mail application you are using. Select "Tools", then "Options" and click on the "Email" tab. Select the e-mail package you are currently using and then select "OK".
Q. Photo Org 2.0 is asking for the FTP address. What do I do now?
A. If you are publishing your Web page to your own Web server, you need to enter the FTP (file transfer protocol) address, the destination directory, your user name and password. The FTP address is the location of the Web server. If you do not know the address of the server you are using, contact your Internet Service Provider to obtain this information.
Or you can choose to "Publish to the Photo Org 2.0 Public Web Server". Select the "Publish Document" option from the toolbar. Select a "Web Page Style" and "Other Options", then click on "Next". Enter a "Title" and any other information desired, then click on "Next". Select "Publish to Photo Org Web Server" and click on "Next". Click "Next" on the next screen. If you are publishing your Web page to the Photo Org 2.0 server, you will be prompted to register and agree to the online usage license the first time you use this site. The Photo Org 2.0 Public Web server can then notify your friends that your Album has been posted.
Q. How can I import my favorite clipart from a CD-ROM?
A. You can import your favorite clipart from a CD-ROM, directory of your computer, or any network drive. You must use a File type of: ".wmf"(Windows Metafile or Enhanced Metafile) only.
From the "Quick Access Toolbar" on the upper right side of the screen, select "Clipart Explorer", then double-click on "[New]". Select "Insert From File" by right-clicking the mouse on the "Untitled Clipart" window. Using the "Open" explorer window, locate and select the file(s) you want to add and click "Open".
