Q. When I try to browse my pictures I get a pulsing blue box instead of a preview.
A. The preview cache files have become corrupt. To correct the problem you must delete two files, IMGCACHE.PVI and IMGCACHE.PVD from your hard drive. This will remove all the previews previously created but you will now be able to create them again.
Q. Some of my pictures display a broken icon when I try to browse them.
A. The pictures that you are trying to scan are recognised as pictures but are in a file format that is not supported by Picture Browser. (GIF and LZW compressed TIF files are common examples).
Q. How do I print pictures?
A. You must drag and drop the picture(s) into an application that supports that type of graphic. As an example, MS Paint supports BMP and PCX pictures. MS Word and Canon Draw support JPG and WMF graphics.
Q. When I try to open Picture Browser the splash screen appears, disappears and nothing else happens.
A. The browser file has failed to register correctly. To manually register it, follow these steps:
- Select the RUN... option from the Start Menu.
- Type regsvr32 browse.ocx.
- Click on the OK button.
The browser file is now registered and should execute correctly.
Q. Why does nothing happen when I insert my new collection CD in my drive?
A. If you already have Picture Browser installed from another collection or application AND it is the same version or newer than the one on your CD, then Picture Browser will not get installed. You will still be able to browse the new collection using the version that is already installed.
Q. I don't have an application that supports the graphic type that I am trying to use.
A. If you drag and drop the same file twice into an application then you will be asked if you want to drop the file in as a more generic file format. Picture Browser will then convert the graphic to a .BMP file if it is a bitmap or to a .WMF file if it is a metafile.
