Q. Can I change the default images in the template?

A. Yes. With a few mouse clicks, you can choose from hundreds of pre-loaded images to redesign any template to accommodate your business' needs. Using the EDIT DATA MODE (arrow icon), select the image frame you would like to edit. Then click the IMAGES icon, and choose a new image for your design.

Q. How do I edit the images in my design?

A. Using the EDIT DATA MODE (arrow icon), double click the image you would like to edit. Then crop, move , and zoom the image to your liking. Items can be stored in the " scrapbook " area for future use.

Q. Can I copy my design(s) to a Word program?

A. No. Items designed in Design Essentials can not be copied to Word or any other program. However, you can copy an item from Word and place it in a Design Essentials template.

Q. How do I delete a single page within a template?

A. On some templates, deleting a page will result in the deletion of all pages. If this has happened, reverse the deletion by using " Edit / Undo ".

Q. While importing a large text file, it appears that my program freezes. Is this No rmal?

A. Yes. This is Normal and may take several minutes when many pages are being exported.

Q. How do I print special designs such as T-shirts and Business Cards?

A. Printing these professional looking designs is easy. When you have completed your design, choose FILE , and then PRINT . A step-by-step help guide automatically appears, which will walk you through the entire print process. The guide will even tell you the best kind of paper to use, as well as any other printing materials you will need to complete your project.

Q. Do I need to be connected to the Internet when I use the BROWSE WEB button?

A. Yes. The BROWSE WEB function requires that you connect to the Internet before accessing this tool.

Q. How do I create a calendar for the year 2000?

A. The current calendar design shows the months and dates for 1999. To create a calendar for the year 2000 through 2003 ;

  1. Select the desired calendar design
  2. Display the first page of the calendar that includes dates and double-click the text frame containing January dates.
  3. Click the IMPORT button in the text editor window.
  4. Navigate to your CD drive (for example, D) and select the CalendarText directory from the DesignE directory.
  5. Double-click the text file that you desire; for example, Jan2000.txt. The dates for January 2000 replace those for January 1999.
  6. Click OK to re-display the calendar page, and repeat this procedure for the next month, until you have replaced all the 1999 dates with the required dates.

Q. I received an "Out of Memory" error during installation. What do I do No w?

A.
  1. Halt the installation process.
  2. Restart Windows.
  3. Close any applications that you currently have running. If you are not sure which programs are running, check the status bar. To close an application, place the pointer on the status bar and right-click the mouse. Select CLOSE from the pop-up menu.
  4. Reinstall Design Essentials

If the problem persists, increase the memory on your PC.

Q. I have installed Design Essentials, but it won't start. What do I do now?

A. Try reinstalling Design Essentials. However, before installing, verify that your PC meets the minimum system requirements recommended to install and run Design Essentials. After reinstalling, make sure you have closed all other applications before launching Design Essentials.

Q. How do I edit and customize the existing text?

A. Using the EDIT DATA MODE (arrow icon), select the text frame you would like to edit. Click on the TEXT icon, then personalize your announcement. You can easily change the font, color and format using the MODIFY STYLE button.

Q. Can I import my company logo or other graphics into Design Essentials?

A. Yes. Simply select the image frame where you like your image to go then drag, scan, or import your image into the selected frame.
