Canon Photo Version 1 FAQs

Q. My camera isn't in the Select Camera list.

A. The Select Camera list will only show devices that install a TWAIN driver on the system. Be sure the camera uses a TWAIN driver and that it has been installed. Note that some cameras, like certain Nikon and Minolta cameras, do not use a TWAIN driver.

Q. How do I print more then one picture on the same sheet of paper?

A. Go to SHARE and select "Make Photo Page." Scroll down through the list of categories, and after selecting an appropriate category, browse through the options in each category. These are various presentation pages with different numbers of Photo "Wells" or "Cells" allowing you to print more than one picture per page.

Q. Why can't I edit an image in a collection? (I double-click on the image and it doesn't come up)

A. Make sure the image hasn't been moved or deleted from where it was originally located when the collection was created.

Q. Can I take text off of an image that I have saved?

A. No. Once an image has been saved the text is permanently merged into the picture.

Q. Why doesn't the Red Eye Removal tool work?

A. The Red Eye Removal tool only removes the color red. If the color in the eye in a picture is not really red, the tool can not affect it.

Q. Can I change the color that the Red Eye Removal tool defaults to?

A. No. The Red Eye Removal tool replaces the red with gray. This can then be highlighted and changed to another color if the user desires.

NetCard Pro

Q. How do I send a NetCard using AOL?

A. Go to Set NetCard preferences. Under Delivery Services select the Save to Disk. Then create a new message in AOL and attach the file that NetCard created.

Q. Why is my address book not showing up?

A. NetCard can only access the address book if the e-mail program is MAPI compliant. The e-mail program may need to be set to be the default MAPI client for the users system. Since all e-mail programs do this differently please contact the manufacturer for setup help.

Q. Why is my address book for Outlook showing up and not the one for Outlook Express?

A. If the user has both Outlook and Outlook Express and they want to use Outlook Express, they have to set Outlook Express to be the default simple MAPI client. This is done by going to TOOLS >> OPTIONS and selecting this setting.

Q. I do not seem to be able to make NetCard Pro work with Lotus Notes. Is there anything that can be done?

A. No NetCard Pro works using the MAPI complaint address book standard. Unfortunately, Lotus Notes is not truly MAPI compliant and thus can not be supported.

High Resolution Printing Issue

Q. When trying to print using the Make Photo Page option, I get an error message about inserting the original CD. However, I continue to get this error, even after inserting the CD.

A. This is caused because the hires folder on the Canon Photo Gold CD has not been installed correctly. The best solution is to simply copy the hires folder from the Canon Photo Gold CD onto your hard drive. The hires folder needs to be copied into the Canon Photo directory. The default directory for Canon Photo Gold is: C:\ Program Files\Canon Software\Canon Photo.

The only possible problem with copying the hires folder to the hard drive is the size required. The hires folder takes 68.7MB. If the user has a limited amount of space on the hard drive copying this folder onto their hard drive may cause a space problem.

Calibrat.bmp File Issue

Q. The Help file talks about a Calibrat.bmp file, but I can not locate this file. Where can I get it?

A. The Calibrat.bmp file is available for download from our web site. Go to http://www.software.canon.com/, select Customer Support & Registration, select Product Updates, double click on the Calibrat.bmp option and follow the steps to download it. Once downloaded, simply copy this file into the Canon Photo folder (C:\Program Files\Canon Software\Canon Photo) and it is then ready for use.
